Biography
Karlin Hossner, She/Her, is a research associate and Ph.D. candidate in the department of Translational Clinical Psychology. She studied psychology in Marburg focusing on Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology and graduated in 2019. During her studies, she grew fond of research and statistics and started working as a student assistant in a large longitudinal cohort study investigating the neurobiology of affective disorders.
Eager to broaden her horizon and to learn more about clinical research and statistics, she applied for a position as biostatistician in Essen, Germany. The following two years she supported international study teams in the pharmaceutical industry developing and analyzing clinical trials during early drug development. In the course of the pandemic, she realized that life is short, so grateful for the new experiences she decided in 2022 to take a gap year and travel the world. She only made half of it, but is still pretty happy with that effort. Among other things, travelling helped her to see that she actually missed the world of psychology and Marburg quite a bit, so she was excited to learn about the department of Translational Clinical Psychology that had emerged during her time away.
Karlin is interested in understanding more about the nature of mental disorders and how advanced statistics can help this process, the use of psychedelic agents in psychotherapy and third wave approaches to therapy. In her free time, she likes eating good food with friends, trying to learn how to cook herself, doing sports and watching TV series.
