Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Who provides the learning opportunities?

Most of the workshop offerings are developed by students, doctoral candidates, and academic staff from the universities of Hessen, mainly Philipps University Marburg (UMR) and Justus Liebig University Gießen (JLU).

How can you register for the Digitale Drehtür?

Students of their parents and guardians who are interested should contact their school (subject teacher or class teacher). More information is available here: Information for Parents and Students | Digitale Drehtür.

Schools can become partner schools of the Digitale Drehtür in order to participate in the full range of offering free of charge. To do so, schools in Hessen register with the Hessian Ministry of Education, Culture and Opportunity (HMKB) at Digitale.Drehtuer@kultus.hessen.de. Further information can be found here: HMKB Website or Information for Schools | Digitale Drehtür.

In what context can learning opportunities of the workshop be used?

There are many possibilities. For example, the learning opportunities can be used in regular subject classes, substitute lessons, homeroom sessions, project weeks, or as supplementary learning at home.

What pathways are available through the Self-Workshop in the Digitale Drehtür?

Students can use a questionnaire tool that assesses their current learning behavior as well as resilience-related aspects. Based on their responses, they will then receive personalized and needs-oriented recommendations for suitable learning opportunities in the Self-Workshop. If the questionnaire tool does not indicate any particular need for support, perhaps because all cross-curricular competencies are well developed, an interest-based selection of the Self-Workshop learning opportunities is advisable. In general, learners can explore the Self-Workshop based on both our recommendations on their personal interest.

How can students register for the learning opportunities in the workshop?

Students from partner schools register on the Digitale Drehtür Campus. After that, they can participate in the so-called Inspirations and other regular live offerings, as well as asynchronous self-paced courses. The inspirations are a format in which students receive exciting insights into various topics through short video conferences, aiming to discover new interests and spark their curiosity. To join, students simply click on the course they are interested in and then click on Register. If they want to enter the BigBlueButton room, they click in the Join Video Conference button within the course. To participate in the self-paced courses, students click on the corresponding course and then click on Start Learning.

How can I as a teacher educate myself further on the topic of self-regulated learning?

In addition to our learning offerings for students, we have also designed an asynchronous training program for teachers focused on self-regulated learning. This training is specifically aimed at equipping you, as a teacher, with the necessary knowledge to successfully promote self-regulated learning in your classroom and to empower you to integrate the self-regulated learning offerings from the Self-Workshop meaningfully into regular classroom instruction.
