Phonetics
Phonetics is concerned with all aspects of (human) speech sound, therefore encompassing the fields of linguistics, physics, medicine and neuroscience, to name but the most important ones. Phonetics in Marburg has two main foci of research: Dr. Gea de Jong-Lendle is well-known for her forensic phonetic expertise. This expertise is shared with Master students in the program »Speech Science and Phonetics«. Prof. Mathias Scharinger attempts to combine acoustics phonetics with cognitive neuroscience, thus, conducting research in the area of neurophonetics. The research groups also offers Ph.D.-programs (through 3rd-party-funding, currently by a Research Training Group).
