Getting to and from Marburg

By plane:

The airport closest to Marburg (97km) is Frankfurt International Airport (FRA). It is Germany‘s largest airport and serves as a base for more than 90 airlines. To name a few: Lufthansa, Ryanair, Easyjet, KLM, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines.

Marburg is well connected to this airport via public transportation which will take about 90 minutes. Trains leave every 30 minutes and you will have to change at Frankfurt main station.

The second airport is  Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN) approximately 200km away from Marburg: https://www.hahn-airport.de/en/home. From here flights are offered to for example London-Stansted, Dublin, Kerry, Seville, Milano, Venice, Rome, Zagreb, Budapest, Sofia, Skopje, Tirana and Marrakech. The main airline is Ryanair. 

It takes around 4,5 hours to travel from Frankfurt-Hahn to Marburg by bus and train. As this airport is not connected by train, a bus shuttle takes you to Frankfurt Hbf (Main train station) in approx. 2 hours: https://www.flibco.com/en/shuttle/bus-frankfurt-hahn-airport. From there you can take the train to Marburg.

By train (within Germany):

The train journey from Munich to Marburg (via Frankfurt) takes 4.5 hours, the journeys from Hamburg or Berlin (via Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe) will take about 4 hours. Marburg has two train stations (Hauptbahnhof and Süd). The main station (Hauptbahnhof) is closer to the city centre, it is a 20 minute walk to the conference venue. Busses leave frequently (bus stop Rudolphsplatz).
