Stephen Follows is an acclaimed film data analyst, bridging the gap between research, journalism and film production. In his widely read and respected blog, stephenfollows.com he has the stated goal of “using data to reveal how the film industry actually works”. Tackling questions that range from the business of film to gender representation in film crews all the way to recognizing patterns in movie posters, anything that can be measured is a potential topic in his over 340 published posts. In addition to this research, Follows is also a scriptwriter and film producer, having founded the production company Catsnake Film. He has also taught at prestigious film schools such as the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and NYU, and he has acted as an instructor on behalf of such institutions as the BFI, the BBC and the British Council.
