Welcome to the Department of English and American studies of the University of Marburg!
Here, incoming students can find information on choosing courses, filling out their learning agreements, and obtaining their transcripts of records.
Terms and Course Catalogue
Classes are from mid-October to mid-February in the winter term (Wintersemester) and from mid-April to mid-July in the summer term (Sommersemester).
Most classes are offered once a week and last 90 min. If not stated otherwise, courses will always begin quarter past and end at a quarter to the hour that is indicated in the course catalogue (example: 8-10 means 8.15-9.45am).
At our department, you can take courses in literature , linguistics, language practice, cultural studies, and language teaching.
The complete course catalogue changes every semester and is available online from the 1st of August (for the winter term) and from the 1st of March (for the summer term).
There you will find all the courses offered by our department for the current term.
The table below explains how many ECTS points you can achieve in the particular course types:

Registering for courses, the “Belegliste” and Transcript of Records
As an incoming student, you cannot register online for courses and exams on the website Marvin. Instead, you register for courses by e-mailing the instructor for each individual course, asking to be registered for the class, and then adding them to your course list or "learning agreement before mobility".
