Project Math4VIP
Studying STEM courses is a major challenge for students with visual impairments due to the mathematical content. The aim of the Math4VIP project is to create a central platform that provides information on barrier-free access to mathematics and the necessary steps for the barrier-free preparation of mathematical content for students with visual impairments.
The project is a cooperation between the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Philipps-University Marburg (UMR) (the only city in Germany with an undergraduate grammar school for students with visual impairments and blindness) and the Center for Digital Accessibility and Assistive Technologies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Contact persons:
- Prof. Dr. Ilka Agricola (UMR, project management)
- Dr. Thorsten Schwarz (KIT)
The project is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation as part of the initiative "Pioniervorhaben - Impulse für das Wissenschaftssystem (Pioneering projects - impulses for the science system)“.
