PhD Program "Data Science: Mathematical Analysis, Scalable Algorithms, and Systems"

The overall research goal of the PhD program is to develop innovative methods for data analysis. The program is based on the conviction that collaboration across disciplinary boundaries, especially between mathematics and computer science, is necessary to meet contemporary challenges in the field of data science. Therefore, in addition to strengthening the expertise of PhD students, the program aims to initiate intensive exchange and joint projects between its members.

The main topics of the program include:

  • Artificial intelligence & machine learning: methods, implementations, mathematical analysis and applications in life sciences.
  • Uncertainty quantification
  • Natural language processing and speech recognition
  • Big Data Analytics, Distributed Systems and Databases
  • Algebraic, geometric, combinatorial methods and complexity theory.
