Profile Areas

As an optional study area of the Master's program Computer Science, a so-called profile area with a scope of 12 LP can be selected. If this profile area is chosen, 12 LP less have to be acquired in the elective area Computer Science accordingly. Attention: The modules in the profile areas are imported from different Bachelor's programs or from other departments and are therefore held in German language.

The selectable profile areas are listed below.

  Before taking up studies in the profile area, interested students should register with the contact person of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science for the profile area of Biology.
  In addition, registration with the Dean of Studies Office of the Department of Biology is required prior to beginning studies in the profile area.
  Since the choices may be limited due to admission restrictions, it is recommended to attend the information event on module selection and, if necessary, also to use the advisory services offered by the Department of Biology if you have any questions.

  This profile area currently comprises the two modules 'Experimental Physics for Natural Scientists I' (Experimentalphysik für Naturwissenschaftler I) and 'Experimental Physics for Natural Scientists II' (Experimentalphysik für Naturwissenschaftler II) (6 LP each). Both modules are two semesters long and each consists of a lecture of the same name and a practical course. The selectable modules can be found in the online module guide of the department.
