Degree programs
“A cautious start and a strong research degree” is the motto of the Physics degree course, which was redesigned in 2018. In Marburg, the Bachelor's degree course is designed for 8 semesters. This is followed by a 2-semester research phase as a Master's degree. For graduates who have completed a 6-semester Bachelor's degree course in Physics, we offer a 4-semester Master's degree course, which is called General Physics to distinguish it from the 2-semester course.
Our new Bachelor's program concept improves the transition from school to university and offers you plenty of flexibility for a semester abroad. In addition to the regular Bachelor's degree program in Physics, the department offers the three interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree programs Physics and Economics, Physics of Green Technologies and Physics and AI, which are unique in Germany. Another unique course starting in the winter semester 2024/2025 is the Master's course in Physics of Green Technologies, which is designed as a follow-up course to the Bachelor's course of the same name.
Of course, you can also study for a teaching degree in physics in Marburg. And if you would like to acquire a solid basic knowledge of physics in order to combine it with other subjects, the minor subject Introduction to Physics is certainly suitable.
