Criteria for the individual academic aptitude
The applicant’s academic aptitude will be measured on the basis of the materials submitted using the following criteria. A total of 5 aptitude points are possible.
- Up to 3 aptitude points can be awarded using the key below for the final GPA from undergraduate studies. If a final GPA is not yet available, the GPA will be calculated based on degree progress already completed, whereby at least 80% of the required credits toward the bachelor's degree must have already been completed:
15.0 – 12.2 grade points (corresponding to grade 1.0 – 1.6) => 3 points
12.1 – 10.3 grade points (corresponding to grade 1.7 – 2.2) => 2 points
10.2 – 9.7 grade points (correlates to grade 2.3 – 2.4) => 1 point
(Scale based on the grade scale in § 28 of the General Provisions of the Philipps-Universität Marburg)
Note: The grade systems differ from country to country. Uni-assist e.V. will translate your grades into our German system. - Up to 2 aptitude points can be awarded for the motivational letter and curriculum vitae:
In the motivational letter and accompanying curriculum vitae, the applicant should explain his or her personal and academic suitability and motivation for commencing studies toward the Master of Science in Functional Materials in the Department of Physics at the Philipps-Universität Marburg.
An aptitude assessment with a total of at least 4 aptitude points is required for admission to pursue studies.
Applicants with 3 aptitude points will be invited to an interview with the selection committee.
