Department
Tradition and progress characterize chemistry Marburg. Beginning with the world's first chemistry professorship as early as 1609, there is a long list of famous chemistry professors who have researched and taught in Marburg, such as Robert Bunsen or Hans Meerwein.
Today, the Department of Chemistry is characterized by a dynamic interdisciplinary cooperation of many working groups, whereby the traditional boundaries of the individual fields of expertise are less and less important. The layout of new building for chemistry, which opened in 2015, reflects this close cooperation across the disciplines.
