21.06.2024 New Publication: Bismuth Dications!
The Chlorido-Bismuth Dication: The reactive complex fragment [BiCl]2+ could for the first time be stabilized and isolated using only simple, monodentate neutral ligands. The resulting compound [BiCl(dmso)6][BF4]2 shows an unusual coordination number of seven, a distortion of the coordination polyhedron due to secondary bonding interactions, and a pronounced Lewis acidity.
