21.04.2023 Publication about low-valent species of arsenic and antimony
Biradical or π-bonding? In a collaborative research effort with the Fischer group (University of Würzburg) and Patrick Hemberger (Paul-Scherrer-Institute), low-valent compounds of arsenic and antimony have been generated and characterized by thermally-induced homolysis of the Pn-C bonds in Pn(CH3)3 (Pn = As, Sb). While the biradical Sb-CH3 dominates in the case of antimony, As-CH3 and the tautomerization product HAs=CH2 have been detected in the case of arsenic. In the series of Pn(CH3)3 (Pn = As, Sb, Bi), the bismuth compound is the most effective radical source. The results have been accepted for publication in in Chem. Eur. J.!
