19.04.2025 Reversible Ethylene Activation!

Bismut-mediated ethylene activation: Ethylene is an essential building block in a large number of industrial processes. The reversible insertion and elimination of this molecule and closely related derivatives is a key step towards the utilization of these important synthetic building blocks. We demonstarte for the first time the activation of ethylene and its derivatives at the heavy p-block element bismuth, including reversible reactions. The mechanism and chemoselectivity of these transformations have been investigated in detail. The results of our studies have recently been accepted for publication in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. - congratulations to the team!
