Cationic Species
Contributions by the Lichtenberg Group could demonstrate that cationic bismuth complexes show a pronounced and soft Lewis acidity. This opens up perspectives for unusual reaction mechanisms (such as SE2-reactions), novel bonding motifs (such as bisma-aromaticity), and unique stoichiometric reactivities (such as double C–H-bond-activation and small molecule activation). Reversible Bi–C bond formation gives promising prospects for catalytic applications.
