Philipps-Universität Marburg Pharmazie (Fb16) Institut für Pharmazeutische Chemie AG SchihadaFrom 2009 to 2014, I studied pharmacy at the University of Regensburg and received my licence to practise as a pharmacist in December 2014. From January 2015 to May 2019, I worked as a research assistant at the JMU Würzburg in the working group of Prof Dr Martin J. Lohse. In January 2019, I obtained my doctorate (magna cum laude) and in June 2019 I moved to the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, with a DFG postdoctoral fellowship. There, I spent two and a half years in Prof Schulte's group investigating the function of class F GPCRs (‘frizzleds’).
I have been back in Germany since December 2021 and initially worked for two and a half years as a postdoc with Prof Peter Kolb in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Marburg. During this time, I was funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoc Programme and searched for new ligands for so-called ‘orphan’ GPCRs.
In spring 2024, I was then able to successfully apply for third-party funding from the German Research Foundation. Since 1 August 2024, I have been working as an Emmy Noether Junior Research Group Leader at the University of Marburg.
