GPCR-specific signaling in living cells
Our research is located at the interface between cell biology and pharmacology and deals with the question of how receptor-specific (GPCR-specific) signals are generated, transmitted and processed in living cells in order to enable the cell to adapt to changing environmental conditions.
To investigate this question, we introduce self-developed biosensors into living cell models (mostly HEK293 cells) and analyse the activity of these sensors after stimulation of the cell with different GPCR or G protein ligands. Our sensors are usually based on the principle of bioluminescence and BRET or fluorescence and FRET of dye-labelled proteins.
