Conservation

The Conservation Division consists of the Conservation (Prof. Dr. Nina Farwig) and Conservation Biology (Prof. Dr. Anna Lampei Bucharova) working groups and deals with both general and applied research. The topics range from studies of biodiversity at all levels, i.e. from genetic diversity to populations, biotic interactions and entire ecosystems. Our goal is to understand the effects of human activity and global change on the diversity and functioning of ecosystems. We develop suitable indicator systems from the scientifically based results and derive management measures for conservation.
