Research

The general theme of our research is the analysis of the molecular mechanisms of light perception and signal transduction in plants and fungi. As plant model organism, we use Arabidopsis thaliana. The current focus in fungi is on Ustilago maydis, but likewise we study photoreceptors from other fungi in particular DASH-type cryptochromes from Fusarium fujikuroi, Phycomyces blakesleeanus, Mucor circinelloides, and blue light receptors of other fungal species.
