Information for reviewers
As a reviewer in the examination process, you prepare a written statement of the dissertation. You propose either acceptance or rejection of the thesis. In justified exceptional cases, you may also recommend that the thesis be returned for amendment or supplementation. Should you propose the acceptance of the thesis, please evaluate it according to the following scheme and indicate the corresponding grade (with the appropriate decimal place) in your expert opinion:
1.0 an "excellent" (summa cum laude) on proposal according to para. 3
from 1.0 - 1.5 a "very good" (magna cum laude)
from 1.6 - 2.5 a "good" (cum laude)
from 2,6 - 4,0 a "sufficient" (rite)
A rejected paper will be graded 5.0 (insufficient).
If you evaluate the thesis with 1.0, you can also propose the predicate "excellent (summa cum laude)" in your expert opinion. The final award of the predicate will only be decided after the oral defense.
Your expert opinion should be prepared four weeks after the submission of the dissertation, written on the official letterhead of your university and signed originally. Please send the original by post to the Dean's Office of the Department of Biology (for the attention of Ms. Annika Kechel). In addition, you can also send us a scanned copy of your report by e-mail.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the doctoral examination office.
