Respiratory infections and chronic lung diseases cause many deaths worldwide, heavily impacting society. Challenges include aging populations, rising antimicrobial resistance, poverty, conflict, and climate change.

Our objective is to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of pneumonia, sepsis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). 

We are affiliated with the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) and the German Center for Infectious Diseases Research (DZIF).
