Seminar “Data Analysis and Statistical Methods in Doctoral Studies”
The elective course/seminar “Data Analysis and Statistical Methods in Doctoral Studies” is aimed at medical students before or during their doctorate study. If possible, participation in the course is recommended before the start of data collection. Parallel or sequential participation in the elective course “Introduction to the Statistical Analysis of Medical Data with R”, also offered by us, is recommended but not a prerequisite. The seminar is designed to specifically address the doctoral candidates' individual thesis topics, regardless of the software used.
The seminar should enable medical students to answer typical medical questions with the help of suitable statistical methods. The seminar includes a refreshment of basic knowledge in statistics and data management, a presentation of the individual thesis topics by the doctoral students and a subsequent joint development and discussion of a methodically correct and well-founded statistical analysis plan for each individual doctoral thesis.
For participants who wish to take the seminar as an elective course, the exam format will be a presentation and discussion on the statistical analysis of their own doctoral thesis topic.
