Studies

In teaching, the IVE is responsible for those subjects in medical studies that deal with the relationship between health/disease and society: in the preclinical course of study, the IVE offers courses in medical sociology; in the clinical course of study, the IVE offers courses on social medicine, health economics, health care systems and public health. Students learn about the importance of social conditions for health and disease and the social arrangements for managing them - ultimately, therefore, what Salomon Neumann and Rudolf Virchow summed up as "medicine is a social science."
