Target group:
This elective course in the elective subject 'Learning and Teaching in Medicine' is aimed at students of human medicine, especially prospective and already accepted doctoral students. For doctoral students, successful participation in this elective course is a prerequisite for admission to statistical consulting at the IMBB. Participation is considered successful if the certificate award criteria have been met.
Description:
At the end of the course, participants should be able to address simple medical questions using suitable statistical methods. This includes entering the data obtained, then selecting suitable statistical methods for evaluation, applying them and interpreting the results. The course covers the following topics:
- Introduction to R
- Scientific question
- Reading data
- Data management
- Univariate statistics
- Multivariate statistics
- Tests on contingency tables
- Parametric tests for two groups
Dates and scope:
The elective course is offered several times a year by the Institute for Medical Bioinformatics and Biostatistics. At least one course with 8 sessions per week takes place in both the winter and summer semesters. If required, one-week block courses are also offered outside of lecture times. The course lasts 1 SWS and is held in 8 sessions of 90 minutes each.
