Quality of life of patients suffering from Parkinson's disease
Description
In this project, we are exploring the question of what quality of life means for individuals with Parkinson's disease. Quality of life is highly subjective and is defined by the Federal Centre for Health Education as the "subjective perception [of living conditions] and the associated well-being"1.
While there are existing instruments that aim to measure quality of life in people with Parkinson's, these mainly focus on health-related quality of life and neglect other aspects of quality of life.
In this project, we aim to approach a holistic understanding of quality of life for individuals with Parkinson's. To achieve this, we have developed an anonymous online questionnaire and reached out to 200 participants. The basis for this questionnaire was provided by two qualitative research projects. With the help of this questionnaire, we aim to determine which aspects of quality of life are deemed relevant by individuals with Parkinson's and to examine the influence of sociodemographic and disease-specific factors on their understanding of quality of life.
