DFG FOR 2107 Neurobiology of Affective Disorders
Affective disorders, such as unipolar depression (MDD) and bipolar disorder (BD), are complex and heterogeneous diseases. Both genetic and environmental risk factors contribute and interact with respect to etiology and disease progression. However, the neurobiological correlates through which these risk factors influence brain function and structure are poorly understood. The goal of this DFG-funded research group is to integrate clinical and neurobiological effects of genetic factors and environmental factors (and their interaction) in disease etiology and progression.
