Project aims:
PRMTs (Protein Arginine Methyltransferases) are epigenetic modifiers that are frequently deregulated in human tumors. In this project proposal, we will investigate the role of PRMTs in tumor cells (cell-autonomous effects) as well as in tumor-microenvironment interactions of human and murine PDAC. Diagnostic efforts will analyze extracellular PRMT-induced end-products (ADMA serum levels) as possible biomarkers. Novel specific PRMT1 antagonists will be developed and characterized for their potential in PDAC therapy.
