Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design
Research in the Diederich group is directed towards the design and synthesis of selective PPARβ/δ modulators as well as serine and aspartic protease inhibitors. The major focus of our work is laid on the efficient synthesis of tailor-made small compound libraries for the respective target utilizing classic as well as modern techniques of organic synthesis. In addition, in our group and in collaboration with other research groups the lead structures are further optimized in an iterative process based on the results from activity testing, molecular modelling, and x-ray crystallography.
