 The study "Between the Family of Origin and Life in Outpatient Assisted Living" examines the living environments and life perspectives of people with 'learning difficulties' who live in different forms of outpatient assisted living.  The study is being conducted as a two-semester teaching research project in cooperation with Lebenshilfe Frankfurt am Main e. V.  [Anna Lamb1] Three levels of discussion-based topical interviews are used to explore different perspectives on outpatient assisted living arrangements.  While level 1 focuses on clients in outpatient assisted living facilities, level 2 focuses on employees in the same living arrangements.  Level 3 examines the perspective of parents who currently accompany or have in the past accompanied their children with 'learning difficulties' into outpatient supported living arrangements. The key questions are:

  • How do clients perceive their living situation (housing, work, leisure time, etc.)?  How do they perceive the employees? Where do they see problems, what wishes do they have?
  • How do the employees assess the situation? What wishes and needs do the employees have?
  • What are the experiences of parents of children with 'learning difficulties'? Where do they see problems? What wishes and needs do they have?
  • What are the experiences of parents of children with 'learning difficulties'? Where do they see problems? What wishes and needs do they have?

 The study sets two focal points and focuses primarily on a sequence-analytical reconstruction and reflection on life practice and secondly, on the development of practice-relevant suggestions for improving the clients' life situation based on the former.
