High process computing (HPC)
Depending on the discipline and research approach, high computing capacities are needed to adequately process research data. To meet this need, the computing capacities of four universities are bundled in the Hessian Competence Center for High-Performance Computing (HKHLR), which offers the following HPC clusters as well as a wide range of collaborative services and offers.
Computers suitable for medium to large computing jobs
- Lichtenberg II cluster at the Technical University of Darmstadt (available to scientists throughout Germany)
Computers suitable for small to medium-sized computing jobs
- justHPC cluster at the Justus Liebig University Gießen
- MaRC3a cluster at the University of Marburg
- Linux cluster at the University of Kassel
The Technical University of Darmstadt is also part of the NHR network, which makes computing resources of medium and large capacity available throughout Germany. The HKHLR is also connected to Tier 2, 1 and 0 capacities in Germany and Europe.
