Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen May I get more monthly data volume?
No, sorry that doesn't work and there are no exceptions. But you can use the Proxy-Cache instead.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen How high is my current monthly data volume?
You can check your current monthly data volume under the follwing link. The table below your current data volume shows you the maximum limits. The data volume accounts are updated every hour. The relevant value for data sent or received is the higher figure.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen My internet connection has been slowing down, now I have no connection. What can I do?
This is caused if the limit of your monthly data volume is exceeded. Your LAN connection speed is reduced in that case. To check your current monthly data volume, follow the link below:
http://www.uni-marburg.de/hrz/swh/volumenabfrage
Data traffic within the UMRNet (= intranet) is unaffected by such access speed reduction. This means that you can use the WWW Proxy Server to surf the Internet (more precisely, for all applications using HTTP or HTTPs). Data volumes handled via proxy cache do not run up your data account, so via proxy, you can keep surfing even if you have already reached your monthly allowed data volume limit. Further information about setting up the Proxy Cache are described under the following link:
Your data volume account is reset on the first day of each month, so full bandwidth is restored for any accounts under restriction.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen My network connection is suddenly down, even though I haven't changed anything and the network cable is plugged in correctly.?
Before you panick and run off to see your internet tutor, please check the following items:
- Is your network cable really securely plugged into your network card and your network port? (maybe ask your neighbour if you can try his/her network cable to make sure!)
- Check your University email account for virus warnings from the HRZ under: https://home.students.uni-marburg.de/ (e.g. with the help of a neighbour with internet connection or at a University PC pool)!
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen I have forgotten my password. What should I do?
You need to apply to have your password reset, after which you can set it again for yourself. To have your password reset, you can contact the staff at all HRZ-run PC pools with assistance staff or all help desks of the HRZ. Please appear personally with your student ID and your official passport/identity card, see Contact Points.
Inhalt ausklappen Inhalt einklappen My PC is registered correctly, network cable is plugged in, but there is still no network connection. What can I do?
In some halls of residence, the network connection socket has two ports, although only one of the two works.
If plugging the cable into the other port changes nothing, please contact your locale internet tutor.
