Web Hosting

For projects in research and teaching, you can set up and operate your own dynamic web applications yourself on centrally provided and administered web server platforms.

The following solutions are currently available:

Requirements

  • Central User Account (Uni Account)
  • Application for project-related web space via the application for setting up a project in Web and Database Hosting.
  • Organizational and content contact person: One or more employees (staff) are available for the project in terms of organization and content.
  • Technical contact person: One or more employees (staff) or students are technically available for the project.
  • The operation of the software used and the associated website must comply with current legal regulations, particularly in the areas of security, data protection, copyright, labelling requirements and criminal law. This particularly includes the installation and configuration of the software used according to the current state of technology, the regular care and maintenance of the software used, the provision of a data protection declaration and an imprint on the website.
  • For the operation of the software used, a technical contact person must be available, who is responsible for the maintenance and care of the software with the appropriate expertise.
  • Due to limited personnel resources, the University Computer Center is generally not able to provide maintenance and support for the software used.
  • The web application is not in competition with the already existing centrally operated services of the Philipps-Universität Marburg, such as the central learning platform ILIAS, the central content management system or the central campus management system Marvin.

Status

The following web servers are currently in operation:

  • www.online.uni-marburg.de (LAMP, LAPP)
  • survey.online.uni-marburg.de (LAPP, especially for survey systems)
