Client Management with opsi (Open - PC Server Integration)
The open source software opsi is used to manage Windows workstations. Opsi is a service, which offers different advantages to the users and at the same time increases the security of the university network.
Opsi advantages at a glance:
- With opsi, managed workstations get automatically preconfigured software and updates. If you have authorization, you can install additional software later.
- Opsi enables you to use already configured proxies with blacklists and firewalls.
- The configuration of the operating system by opsi gives you the possibility to use file and print services of the University Computer Center or the University of Marburg. Additionally, you have different network drives at your disposal.
- The software management installs regular security updates for the respective software and operating system. This makes the maintenance of the computer easier for you.
- Due to the client management, there are various restrictions, which are not to be understood as a control, but as a service and relevant security measure.
- The assignment of admin rights is also possible, except for computers in the administration and PC rooms.
