01.07.2021 Summer School "State Crime: Crimes of the Powerful" successfully hosted
After last year's "Post-Graduate Course of State Crime: Crimes of the Powerful" had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, the ICWC took the courageous step this year and organized the Summer School in cooperation with the Freie Universität Berlin with a hybrid concept and under strict hygiene regulations. The course was led by Prof. Dr. Kirstin Drenkhahn and Dr. Wolfgang Form.
A small number of students from Marburg could participate in presence; at the same time, thanks to the technology provided by the Philipps-Universität Marburg, there was the possibility for a larger number of also international students to participate online in the Summer School. For example, we welcomed students from Cambodia and Argentina.
The hybrid concept also gave us the extraordinary opportunity to invite speakers from all over the world who gave exciting insights into their research - among others, Sandra Wilson and Robert Cribb from Australia and Gustave Emilio Cote-Barco from Colombia joined us via web conference.
The various contributions to the Summer School were thematically very diverse and followed the thematic complexes "Introduction to State Crime", "Counter Insurgency", "History and Criminology" and "Transitional Justice".
We would like to thank all participants of the Summer School and are very happy that we were able to host the event so successfully!
