Information and support for prospective students
You would like to study at Philipps-Universität Marburg? There are various options, depending on what goal you are aiming for. An uncomplicated enrollment for a few semesters is possible through the Freemover Program. If you would like to acquire a degree, you can apply for an undergraduate program. You already have a first degree? Then you can complete your master's degree in Marburg. Prospective students with refugee or migration background can attend language or subject courses (“Fachkurse”) at the Studienkolleg in preparation for their studies.

Freemovers are students who are enrolled at Philipps-Universität Marburg for one to a maximum of two semesters. There are many advantages to enrolling as a freemover. The application is uncomplicated, no or only little German language skills are required and You can choose from the wide range of subjects offered by the university, such as language courses.
However, as a freemover you cannot obtain a degree and can only be enrolled for a limited time. Therefore, this option is recommended for all those who would like to study at Philipps-Universität Marburg only for a transitional period and continue/start their studies e.g. online or in Ukraine.

Depending on factors such as the field of study as well as school and academic qualifications, the prerequisites for enrolling vary. In summary, prerequisites pertain to the following:· University entrance qualification
· Previous studies in home country
· Sufficient language skills
University entrance qualification via the Studienkolleg (preparatory course)
If you have not studied before and your school-leaving certificate does not entitle you to study in Germany, it is possible to complete specialized courses at the Studienkolleg and thus acquire the university entrance qualification.
You can research the extent to which your school-leaving certificate entitles you to study in the "Anabin" database.
German language courses
You can find out which language skills are required here.
If your German language skills are not sufficient for studying in Germany, you can improve them by attending a preparatory language course. The Studienkolleg Mittelhessen offers language courses from A1.2 level up to level B1/B2 as well as DSH preparation. The course costs for participants with a refugee background are covered by the DAAD Integra program for refugee applicants.

Admission requirements and certificates
You can check in advance via the "Anabin" database whether your university certificate entitles you to studying a Master's degree. In addition, the department will check whether your undergraduate studies were suitable in terms of content.
You must have your transcripts, grade overviews or certificates translated into German or English by an official translator. We also accept documents in English without translation.
Language skills
Depending on which degree program you are applying for, the required language skills vary. For example, Philipps-Universität Marburg offers some purely English-language degree programs without required German skills.
