Schedule for the International Student Orientation Summer Semester 2025
The online events of the international student orientation will be held via the web conference software BigBlueButton (BBB). If you registered for the international student orientation, you will receive a link to the online conference room per e-mail shortly before the orientation.
Note: The orientation programs take place in hybrid form. As we believe that personal interaction is a vital part of our programs we offer a mix of online and presence events. Being present in Marburg during the orientation gives you important information that you need for your studies. Also, you have the chance to interact and connect with fellow students.
Events that are marked with (M) are also relevant for students from the MO:VE program.

Online Seminar: Dormitory Information (10:00 - 11:30)
Location: BBB (Digital)
In this Seminar for students that booked a room through the Studentenwerk we will provide you with information about rental contracts and other information you should know when renting in Germany.
Online Seminar: Housing Hunt in Marburg (12:00) - 13:00)
In this online seminar we will provide you with information on how to search successfully for an accommodation in Marburg. This might be for a shorter stay during your semester abroad or for staying in Marburg long-term for your degree program. We will talk about helpful tips and what you should know when renting in Germany.

Day of Arrival (10:00 - 13:00)
Location: Milchbar, Erlenring 5, 35037 Marburg
At the Check-In you will receive the keys to your rooms, your library/food card (UCards), your student-ticket and further information. You are also welcome to get your Ucard and student-ticket if you didn’t book a room through Studierendenwerk.
Get to know each other - Evening Event (19:00 - )
Location: Max-Kade-Zentrum, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 9
We will welcome you and give a first introduction to the orientation and studying at the University of Marburg.
We will also go though the most important administrative aspects of your stay in Germany.
02.04.2025
„Kick-Off“ and Formalities (10:00 - 15:00)
Location: Vortragsraum B008, UB (Deutschhausstraße 9, Universitätsbibliothek (F | 01))
We will welcome you and give a first introduction to the orientation and studying at the University of Marburg.
We will also go though the most important administrative aspects of your stay in Germany.Guided City Tour (17:00 - )
Location: Market square (Marktplatz)
Local guides will show you the city of Marburg and the Oberstadt.

Online Workshop: Study Organisation (10:00 - 12:00)
Location: BBB (Digital)
In this interactive workshop you will learn more on internet access for students at the university, the online course list MARVIN, the learning platform Ilias and receive tips on the digital infrastructure at the University of Marburg. You will learn how to activate your own student account and there will be room for questions.

International Office staff will be available for open consultation. A contact person for Erasmus students, Overseas students and Freemover student as well as our student assistants will be happy to answer your questions.

Campus-Rally (17:00 -)
Location: Deutschhausstraße 11+13, back entrance
We warmly invite you to join us for a digital, informal get-together. In this rally, you will walk through the city in little groups searching for a hint that leads you to your next location – while doing that you will see many university buildings that are important for your stay, you will find some history and have fun together doing little riddles.

International Office staff will be available for open consultation. A contact person for Erasmus students, Overseas students and Freemover student as well as our student assistants will be happy to answer your questions.
Study Support Resources & Extracurricular Activities (10:00 - 13:00)
Location: BBB (Digital)
Where is the university library and student cafeteria? Where can I find the city registration and the immigration office? Who can I turn to when I need guidance on legal or social matters? We will introduce to you some of the most important points of contact at the university and the city of Marburg. Also Network with initiatives, get inspiration for leisure activities.
Closing Event (19:00 - )
Location: Max-Kade-Zentrum, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 9
This final evening is the last gathering during the orientation program in form of a party to close out the week!
