Effective academic communication is the basis of successful scholarly work. Transferring the output of your research to other scholars and practitioners is probably the most important component in academics. But: academic writing is not like other styles of communication. It has own conventions that ensure clear, explicit and logically consistent contents. Most challenging for young scientists is to receive sufficient practice in academic writing and improve their writing skills.
In this workshop we will outline key challenges that young scholars are confronted with at the beginning of their academic career. Participants will experience helpful and sustainable strategies to keep their writing on track.
Contents of the workshop:
- Fundamental aspects of academic writing: Writing with the IMRAD structure and beyond
- What is understood as the academic style? The basic rules of academic writing
- Structure your writing: Scheduling and maintaining focus with sustainable habits
- Specific guidelines for writing each chapter: Adopting strategies for different writing needs
- Writing in English as additional language
Language: English
Lecturer: Iris Krimmel studied Political Sciences and works as a freelance writing coach and writing consultant.
