Doctoral candidates, who came recently to Marburg from abroad, are cordially invited to this event organized by the International Office and MARA.
On the first day you will get to know the distinctive features of the German scientific system and how doctorates are typically done, supervised and funded in Germany. This course aims to give you a basic understanding of the differences to other systems and how to tackle them in order to strive in your new environment. We will cover various levels of diversity and discuss their influence and outcome.
On the second day you will learn and practice effective communication, including how to deal with typical German ways of supervision and leadership. Based on analyses of your individual situation, you will develop solutions and produce plans that can guide you through your current challenges. We will practice peer support techniques to do so and to equip you for the time after the workshop.
