ARIADNE

With ARIADNE, Philipps-Universität Marburg establishes a comprehensive program that guides international students through all phases of the student-life-cycle. It aims to support international students in meeting academic and language-related requirements and challenges they might face throughout their studies. ARIADNE assists degree-seeking students from abroad by strengthening their academic as well as intercultural skills and competences.

ARIADNE specifically encourages UMR’s international student body to actively engage in the project and become an integral part of the university’s community. With three complementary project components, ARIADNE advocates service learning for both international and German students, helps international students to successfully finish their studies by reducing dropout rates, and offers workshops tailored to the needs of those who want to enter the German job market after graduation.

The three complementary components each focus on a specific study phase:

  • The International Campus Team (ICT) organizes MarMento, a mentoring program that asks both German and international students to engage in activities that support newcomers right after their arrival in Marburg and during the first semesters of their studies.
  • Studies & Language offers workshops and events that help international students meet the specific challenges of the German academic system. It also addresses the difficulties non-native speakers face while studying in Germany.
  • To prepare for a successful transition into the next career step, students take part in the Perspective and Success workshops and events. These are designed to prepare students for a career in Germany, both inside and outside of academia.
