The world is changing, and so is the world of academia. There is more information freely available than ever before, and this is why researchers and scientists need abstracts. These shortened overviews of documents enable readers to decide whether the document is relevant to them, whether the quality of research is reputable and whether or not they need to read the complete document. Writing abstracts is not only increasingly in demand, but is also becoming increasingly indispensable.
This course will focus on descriptive abstracts and informative abstracts. We will identify and practice the conventions and norms, as well as useful tricks and techniques in abstract writing. Participants will peer-review a partner's abstract.

At the end of this course, you will be able to
