Writing a scientific abstract is anything but trivial. It is one of the most challenging and most sophisticated tasks in scientific writing. Different types of abstracts exist, e.g., for an original research paper, a conference contribution, a grant proposal, or a thesis. Each type has different challenges and requirements for the abstract to be compelling and successfully serve its purpose.
Intended Learning Outcomes
- You will be familiar with the function of a scientific abstract in general.
- You will be informed about the characteristics and specific challenges of different types of abstracts.
- You will engage in writing exercises for different types of abstracts and identify your personal challenges and hurdles.
- You will feel more comfortable regarding your own future abstract writing activities.
Didactic Methods
Theoretical input be the trainer, individual, partner and group exercises, plenum discussions
Requirements
To participate in the online course, you need a PC/laptop with a current browser (recommended: Chrome or Firefox) as well as a headset (or speakers and a microphone), a webcam, and a stable Internet connection.
Proficiency in English at the B2 level of competency is required.
