EMF – Presentation of Third-Party-Funded Projects and Research Results – In-person event

Presenting your own research ideas and research proposals to reviewers is a typical task for scientists. In this workshop you will learn how to prepare and realise your presentation and to handle the Q&A session.

Successfully presenting research projects to reviewers is a critical skill for scientists. This workshop provides comprehensive guidance on how to create and deliver compelling presentations that are strategically aligned with the expectations of funding organizations and also tailored to the diverse backgrounds of reviewers.

You will learn to transform complex contexts into clear, convincing messages, create effective visuals, and present work schedules and financial plans with confidence. The workshop also focuses on improving your personal presence through the effective use of voice, gestures, and facial expressions. You will practise to master difficult question and answer sessions competently and to remain calm under pressure.

Qualification Outcomes

After the workshop, you will be able to

• Deliver presentations of your research project that align with the expectations reviewers.
• Simplify complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences and create visually impactful presentation materials.
• Confidently present and justify your project's work schedule and financial plan.
• Enhance your personal presence through effective use of voice, gestures, and facial expressions.
• Navigate Q&A sessions with poise and manage stress during high-stakes presentations.

Methods

Short impulses by trainer, joint idea development / brainstorming, individual development of a pitch, short presentation with feedback

Requirements

Please prepare a ten-minute short presentation (project proposal or research results) and bring it with you on the day of the course. Please let us know the title of your presentation by October 6, 2025 and indicate which program and funding organization the application relates to.

Registration

This workshop is a mandatory event of the certifying program "Designing and Managing Research Projects" (EMF). If you are not a participant of the program, you will be on the waiting list until two weeks prior the beginning of the event.

Please note that registration is always binding. You may cancel your registration up to twelve days before the event begins without providing specific reasons. Thereafter, you will be required to pay the attendance fee even if you do not attend the event.
