23 students from the US, Canada and Japan explore Marburg University and German educational and recreational schemes

Marburg University proudly welcomes 23 new students to the International Undergraduate Study Program (IUSP) for the summer semester 2025. These students come from institutions in Hessen’s partner region Wisconsin, the Pennsylvania State University, Marquette University and Juniata College, University of Victoria and Mount Allison University in Canada, Nagoya University of Foreign Studies in Japan and more. Over the next few months, these students will immerse themselves in German language and culture while attending lectures, seminars, and tutorials. Beyond the classroom, they’ll explore Germany with exciting excursions to Berlin, Dresden and within Hesse and experience the vibrant student life in Marburg. 

The IUSP is a semester study abroad option adapted to the international academic calendar. It is a unique opportunity for students from all over the world to deepen their understanding of Germany and German, get to know Marburg and Hessen as an academic destination and maybe return for further studies. The newly arrived students will be joined by second-semester IUSP students and peers from other short-term study programs, enriching their academic journey and broadening their cultural perspectives.

The IUSP celebrates its 20th anniversary: Since 2005 the program has brought together students from a wide range of countries, including the USA, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and China, offering them a truly global experience both in and outside the classroom. Marburg University’s partner institutions play an important and valued part in the program, enhancing exchange options for students on both sides.
