Doctoral Prize Award Information

Philipps-Universität Marburg awards the Doctoral Award every year. It is intended to highlight the outstanding achievements of young researchers as well as the scientific progress made with this kind of work. Each year, the Philipps-Universität Marburg Doctoral Award recognizes an outstanding dissertation from the various disciplines (called “sections”) of the university:
Section I: Law, Economics and Social Sciences
Section II: Philosophy, Theology, History, Education, Linguistics and Cultural Studies
Section III: Mathematics and Natural Sciences (excluding Life Sciences)
Section IV: Life Sciences and Medicine
Any adviser or reviewer of a dissertation may submit a proposal to the dean of the respective department or academic unit.
Selection committee:
The selection committee for the Doctoral Award at Philipps-Universität Marburg consists of university instructors from Philipps-Universität Marburg. It deliberates on the nominations received and makes a recommendation to the Office of the President. The Office of the President makes the final decision on the recipients of the Doctoral Award.
