Scientists' Day 2024: Let AI do your research?!

The Scientists' Day, which has been held annually since 2020, focuses on researchers in the early stages of their careers. Each year, a topic that is particularly relevant in the qualification phase is dealt with in different programme items.
The event offers Marburg doctoral candicates and postdocs as well as their supervisors the opportunity for an informal and relaxed interdisciplinary exchange.

This year's Scientists' Day will take place on 4 June 2024. The focus will be on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and its use, effects, opportunities and potential problems for (your own) research.

Are you curious about the innovative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in research? 
How can AI be used to improve research? What are the limits of scientific integrity?

At the Scientists' Day, we will explore the opportunities and risks of integrating AI into your research work.
Every transformation brings challenges. Learn more about ethical considerations, privacy concerns and potential biases related to the use of AI in research.

Programme

15.30-16.30: Registration, coffee & exchange in the SYNMIKRO foyer

Get-in-touch with AI at the UMR: Various working groups will present their work and experiences with AI. You will have the opportunity to find out more about the topic of "AI in research" at our information tables.

16.30-18.00: Keynote and panel discussion - SYNMIKRO lecture room

After an introductory keynote speech by Prof Dr Christin Seifert, the first hessian.AI professor at Philipps University Marburg, she and Prof Dr Gert Bange, Vice President for Research, Dr Georg Hochberg, Junior Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology and Leonie Groblewski, Research Associate in the DFG-SPP "The Digital Image", will discuss the topic "Let AI do your research?". The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr Golnaz Sarkar Farshir (MCDCI).

Get-together in our "beer garden"

Afterwards, we invite you to a get-together in a beer garden atmosphere in SYNMIKRO's inner courtyard. Grab a snack, have a drink (both alcoholic as non-alcoholic is provided) and take the opportunity to meet new people and exchange ideas.
