Subproject B01
Public Peace ('Landfrieden') - Non-Violence and Federal Order in the Early Modern Age
2. Funding period (2018-2021)
The subproject, which is oriented toward constitutional history, asks how federal political systems defined security in the context of keeping of public peace ('Landfrieden') identified corresponding problems, and how they regulated them. To this end, the new challenges that confronted the empire as a public peace order after 1495 (confessional dispute, subject revolts, masterless mercenaries) will now be examined comparatively for the Confederation and the Netherlands.
