Advanced security - Changes in Statehood since 1970 (‘After the Boom’)

2. Funding period (2018-2021)

The sub-project examines the relationship between the dynamics of "expanded security" and changes in statehood after the end of the boom from a transnational and international perspective and investigates these dynamics for the two hybrid political fields of action "nuclear" and "ageing". Important thematic strands from the first funding phase are taken up (environmental and technical security; biopolitical security) and their overlaps with other dimensions of security (military, economic and social security) are analyzed. The temporal perspective of the sub-project will be extended to the second transformation phase in the late 20th century, which contemporary history has only just begun to explore (the upheavals of 1989-91).
