Subproject C03
The 'House' as Security and Gender (In-)Security
2. Funding period (2018-2021)
In the second funding period, the subproject focuses on the analysis of the connection between the construction of the "house" as a "safe place" and the integration of gender in notions of social security in the early modern period. It inquires into the function of architectural-building boundaries, their normative attribution of meaning, and practices of boundary drawing or transgression linked to them. Looking at the boundaries between house and street space, at their specific markings and qualities, enables the analysis of gender-related mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion in processes of securitization in the early modern period.
