How do people talk about the climate, sustainability, war or diseases? What are the everyday strategies they choose to cope with this and other current problems? How do different religions live together in the world? What concepts of nature, communication or power do South American peoples have and which theories and methods can we use to understand them? The Critical Cultural and Religious Studies major invites you to learn about human behaviour in groups, to get to know foreign perspectives and contexts, and thus to overcome prejudices. You will learn the fundamentals of the three disciplines of empirical cultural studies, religious studies and social and cultural anthropology. This subject includes the ability to conduct independent scientific work using the appropriate methods.
An integral part of the combined Bachelor's degree is the MarSkills programme, in which you will acquire valuable, future-oriented skills.

Admission requirements
Higher education entrance qualification:
General higher education entrance qualification or subject-related higher education entrance qualification1 or advanced technical college entrance qualification or master craftsman's examination as well as comparable qualifications of advanced vocational training or vocationally qualified persons

Knowledge and skills specific to the subject to be demonstrated prior to admission:
Knowledge of two foreign languages at the B1 level.
This usually involves modern foreign languages such as English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic or Japanese. One of these foreign languages could include Latin or Ancient Greek, in which case the level of the Latinum or the Graecum must be proven.
If students do not have the required language skills in the second foreign language at level B1, they will only be enrolled on the condition that they provide proof of these skills by the time they re-register semester.
